We just traveled around Sweden to capture and understand the Swedish building styles more and we came across some really beautiful wooden houses that we’d love to share with you guys.
Let’s dive into these innovative, wooden wonders!
Swedish Cottage style

This home is very unique. We love the many nooks and details.
Notice how the balcony connects to the backporch (this is actually the back of the house) and how the slide also connects the balcony to the garden space!
Very cool!
Traditional swedish building style

This is a classic example of traditional Swedish wooden building.
Notice how the entrance has a little entry-part that’s almost plastered on the front of the house as a little welcoming nook. Very cozy and typical for Sweden.
We also see lots of colors on these homes.
Here’s the same home from the other side. It’s actually an old post office from southern Sweden:

From this angle you can better see the wooden panels and how the sides are made. The windows are muntin-style and swings out rather than slide up. Also classic Scandinavian style.
The next home is also a design we came across on our Sweden trip:
Colorful Swedish woodne home

This is a home from inside Bullerby, Sweden. You can see how it’s made specifically to this plot with lots of details and cute windows.
It’s hidden behind one of the main town streets in a small town with lots of old wooden homes like this.
Small modern wooden home
We love this home, it’s so clean and natural with the wooden exterior and it’s clear long horizontal and diagonal lines.
It’s a little home outside Aarhus, Denmark – and it’s built for a family with two-three kids.
We love how the outdoor and the indoor is knit together with the angled front toward the garden.
Scandinavian modern architecture
This home is built by two young architects in Denmark.
It’s quite unique because it has a slightly angled roof above the part of the house that features the staircase up to the front entrance.
Also, the lighting around the ceiling is a nice twist!
Scandinavian minimalism

This box-like house is also very typical for Scandinavia, probably around Denmark, in particular.
We love how simple it is – probably too simple for most people – but it’s a very minimalistic and anonymous exterior that hints at the cold climate.
We love the lamps on the walls that make this home very cozy at night.
We’ve also made some renderings of how the inside of these homes can look, in a more modern style.
