Cottages have unique designs all over the world. We’ve traveled a lot in Sweden and Norway and would love to share some fantastic designs we’ve come across.
We’ve also made some renderings for inspiration.
Let’s start with some really cute Swedish cottages.
Swedish Cottage design
This cute little cottage home is found outside Bullerby, in Sweden.
We love the small little front porch and how the picket-fence style covering closes off around the entrance.
So cute!
Cottage with closed terrace
This little home is hidden inside the forrest and ready for a weekend adventure or a week in the summer holiday for the kids to go nuts.
We love how private it is with the high wooden fence around the terrace. It’s kept in natural wood colors, very nice.
Modern forest home in minimalistic style
This design is more modern and minimalistic. It’s also a classic Scandinavian design with the flat roof and the wooden pillars to hold the roof over the terrace and deck.
Very stylish.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get up close to show the beautiful details on the wood work.
Stylish wooden cottage

This little home is found in Denmark, outside Aarhus.
It’s a little wooden cottage that the owner uses in the summer only but it’s suitable for all-year-round living. It has all you need.
We love how the roofing extends on the one side to create shelter above the terrace.
Boxy cottage
This is a typical modern (after 2000) wooden cottage from Scandinavia.
Very minimalistic and boxy. Often you’ll see a an annex on the one side for bigger homes but this little cottage only has one bigger room that leads to the upper floor where you can sleep 4 persons comfortably.
The boxy style is very typical for Denmark, specifically.
Cottage with wooden side panels

This is actually a mobile home for a new architect firm in Aarhus, Denmark.
The owner and his partner runs their business from this little wooden home that shows how modern architecture often plays around with the lines of the home.
Notice how the raised level around the staircase is mimicked in the shape of the roof!
So nice!

Brick And Glass Cottage
This rendering shows a tiny cottage nestled in the forest mountain. It has walls made of colored bricks with large windows.
The strong blue color is really unique!
Its elements bring a rustic charm, while the glass windows create a fresh, airy feel.
