5 Small House Staircases & ladders That just work

You will often need two or three stories in homes with a very small floor plan. This inevitably means staircases.

People often overlook staircases when building in storage solution – which is a big mistake.

Have a look at these great ideas!

Staircase with storage

This custom-made staircase is just brilliant.

Notice how the drawers utilize the space optimially. They are deep and can hold a ton of stuff.

With this solution built into your staircase you probably won’t need much more storage space – for a tiny home!

Shoe Storage Built-In

The staircase will often be the best space to store winter clothes and footwear.

Check out this cool drawer that holds all the kids’ shoes!

We love how the deep drawer is totally fitted for shoes in two layers.

This Japanese example is just great.

It features a cozy hang-out spot for reading a book or enjoying a cup of tea. All fitted in the otherwise unused space under the staircase!

Just brilliant!

Staircase with storage underneath

This simple staircase is from the office building I work at. You’ll see how the space below the stairs hold all the cleaning supplies, boxes, and ladders etc.

This is more simple way to add storage behind and under the staircase without building fancy drawers and bespoke solutions.

Space-Optimized Bed

This rendering showcases a sleek, elevated compact bed with a built-in minimalist cabinet beneath. It includes an integrated L-shaped seating.

The bed and seating share a matching yellow hue that shines brightly when illuminated by natural sunlight from the skylight windows and wall windows in the room.
